What if there was a disaster but nobody cared?
This is the question that the Obama administration is asking itself right now. The partial shut down of the federal government has been touted as a calamity that has befallen the American people, forced on us by those dastardly Republicans in the House of Representatives. The narrative coming from the administration is that the lack of funding for only 17% of the federal government is an event so horrible as to inspire nightmares in young children and to cause the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the land. But, in reality, not so much. But since the doom of civilization hasn’t materialized the way Obama and his team had hoped, the effort is being put into actively trying to generate pain and discomfort for the American people so that they can really get it through their thick skulls why government is so important.
